19th December 2020

Following an enormous physically & mentally challenging schedule for Grading, held on Saturday 19th December 2020, hardened by the strangest and most debilitating period in Modern History, Dion Protheroe, Aalish Hall, Amy Flattery, Brychan Gilson, Louanna Gilson and Stephen Gilson emerged successful, in achieving their Ranks of 1st Dan (Shodan). This is much more than a Milestone, it is a totally new foundation for Shogun and a massive achievement for each individual.

Following a gruelling test of Physical Perseverance and Technical Prowess, on Saturday 19th December 2015, Matthew Cray, Max Colwill and Tamzin James emerged victorious, to achieve the rank of Shodan (1st Dan). Yet another milestone for the Club and a massive individual achievement for them all.

Following a massive test of Physical Ability, Technical Merit & Mental Anguish, on Saturday 20th December 2014, Sebastian Payne emerged victorious, to attain the rank of Shodan (1st Dan). Another milestone for the Club and a huge individual achievement for Seb.

Congratulations to Shögun Chief Instructor Paul Scott, on his long overdue and well-deserved promotion to Rokudan (6th Dan).

Having started his journey way back in 1972, attaining his "Shodan" in 1983, Paul has risen from Student to Chief Instructor, Competitor to International Coach and established himself in many of the Senior positions in Martial Arts, over the past 42 years. He continues relentlessly to steer  Shögun along its successful path........

This is a milestone for the Club and a huge individual achievement for Lara.

Gareth Evans celebrated St. Davids Day in true fashion today. Passing his Nidan (2nd Dan Black Belt) with another gruelling Grading at H.Q. in Swansea. Totally drained, following the 1 hour and 40 minute test of his skill and endurance, he emerged victorious to add the extra step on that coveted "Black Belt"........Very Well Done, Paul & Irene.

Pembrey Classes Grow

To cater for the growth of Shögun and its Students a further class opportunity has been initiated. Starting Monday 12th September and including the 2nd & 3rd Monday of each month, Seniors (All Grades) & Juniors (Green Belt & Above) can meet from 7.00 - 8.00 p.m. for sessions including Bagwork, Pads, Sparring and advanced partner work.

Kidwelly Club Growth Sparks Move

Shögun has had to move into the Main Hall at the Princess Gwenllian in Kidwelly.
As well as a necessity for its growth, it has proved to be very popular with the Students.
Greater numbers can now train, whilst having more room for each individual to train in.
Training days & times have had to be changed to accommodate the move.

Kickboxing KIDZ (4 & 5yrs) 1.00 - 2.00 p.m.

Juniors (6 - 15yrs) 1.00 - 2.00 p.m.

Seniors (16yrs & Above) 2.00 - 3.00 p.m.

Friday
Juniors (6 - 15yrs) 6.00 - 7.00 p.m.
Seniors (16yrs & Above) 7.00 - 8.00 p.m.

Local Community Sports Award
Congratulations to Instructor Gareth Evans (1st Dan)
on being awarded this accolade. Gareth has been recognised 
through his relentless drive to maintain Shögun Kickboxing, 
as his input to the Local Community.
The Presentation was made at the Princess Gwenllian Centre
on the 21st January 2011.

Kickathon
Congratulations to all those that took part in the 2010 Kickathon.
Fundraising is the "LifeBlood" of any Club, without it, 
Facility & Equipment improvement is impossible.

Competition Fighting
A Course for those wishing to take part in Club & Association
Competition, will take place early in the New Year.
A Shögun Martial Arts event will take place at Kidwelly in February or March.

Shögun Martial Arts

New 1800 Sq. Ft. Dojo For 2010.

As part of its expansion plan, Shögun will get a New Fully Fitted Dojo.

Also planned are a Fitness Gym, Sports Massage Therapy Clinic and Café.

Refurbishment of the New Dojo began on 1st October 2009.

Gareth Evans made the Grade today.

Passing his Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) with a gruelling Grading at the H.Q..

With absolutely no strength left, following the 1 hour and 10 minute test of his skill and endurance, he emerged victorious to don the coveted "Black Belt".
